Tokyo Olympics: What is special about the world's largest sporting event this year?

The mascot of the Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo has been named 'Miraitova' and 'Somety'. It has been given a special Japanese indigo blue color pattern.

They represent both the cultural tradition and modernity of Japan. 'Miraitova' is inspired by the Japanese proverb. In the Japanese word Miraitova, 'mirai' means 'future' and tova means 'eternity'.
